OREANDA-NEWS. Automotive market of Russia, which in May strengthened the fall, has dropped out of the five European leaders, behind Spain.

According to data, received by the agency "AUTOSTAT" in the national associations of European car manufacturers, the leader in car sales in May was Germany, where it was sold 286,931 cars (+ 11.9%). Second place is kept by the UK with 203585 sold cars (+ 2.5%). As noted by the British Society of Motor Manufacturers and dealers (SMMT), the demand for cars has remained stable, despite the slowdown in growth, and in quantitative terms, the May result was the best since 2002.

The third result was shown by Italy - 187631 of sold cars (+ 27.3%). As noted in the Italian Association of Automobile Manufacturers (ANFIA), it is the best indicator in May of 2009, when it was acted the scrappage bonus program, with double-digit sales growth recorded the fifth consecutive month. The next one was France, whose dealers have sold 175 834 cars (+ 22.3%). The top-five of leaders is closed by Spain, where, thanks to the action of incentive program to subsidize the purchase of new fuel-efficient cars, the local car market continues to show the growth - in May by 20.9% to 113,671 cars.
