OREANDA-NEWS.  In Boston, 25 Honeywell volunteers helped with structural upgrades to the Dorchester Youth Collaborative (DYC) facility, which become a central hub of support and camaraderie for the 2,000 at-risk youth. The initiative included a day’s worth of installing new flooring, plumbing retrofits, painting and ceiling upgrades as well as transformation of one room into a sound-proofed space for music recording. 

“With a deeply rooted connection in Boston, volunteers were eager to support the Dorchester Youth Collaborative, an inspiring organization that positively impacts the lives of our city’s younger citizens,” said Rick Asmar, Honeywell ECC Quality Assurance Manager, who co-captained the activities. 

In St. Paul, Minnesota, approximately 100 volunteers, including Honeywell employees and Cooper High School students, built a storage shed, picnic tables, a compost bin and portable benches for Urban Roots, an organization with a mission to build vibrant and healthy communities through food conservation and youth development.  Urban Roots cultivates local youth leaders through paid internships programs that provide hands-on learning and critical life skills, such as entrepreneurial thinking, resilience and collaboration.
