Global Car Market Grew By 4.6% in April
OREANDA-NEWS. The global car market grew by 4.6% to 7 million 556 thousand passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in March, and the purified from seasonality annual sales level, calculated on basis of the results of last month, was 91 million 711 thousand cars. At the end of four months of 2016 the sales of cars in the world grew by 2.8% to 30 million 237 thousand units, according to the data of consultancy LMC Automotive.
The world leadership by sales of cars is kept by China, where in April it was sold 2 million 119 thousand cars (+ 5.1%). The world's second largest auto market is America with the index of 1 million 505 thousand cars, which is more by 3.7% compared to the previous year. Sales of cars in Western Europe continue to grow - by 8.5%, up to 1 million 367 thousand cars in the last month.
Car markets of Eastern Europe, it seems, approach "to the bottom" – by the results of April the fall was only 0.4% up to 333.9 thousand cars. Therewith, the worst-case result is still in the account of Russia (-8.5%), although the dynamics of each month continues to improve.
In South America, local dealers sold 215.5 thousand cars, which is less by 17.5% than in April of the last year. Among the world's major car markets it is also worth mentioning Japan (315 thousand units, 0.3%), Canada (200.2 thousand units, + 6%) and Korea (155.2 thousand units, +3.5 %).
