Angola LNG to restart exports in May: Chevron
OREANDA-NEWS. The 5.2mn t/yr Angola LNG plant at Soyo should restart exports next month after a two-year shutdown.
"Production from Angola LNG is imminent and a cargo shipment is expected in May," according to project leader Chevron's chief executive, John Watson. The 160,000m? Sonangol Sambizanga LNG carrier is near Soyo and the 160,000m? Cubal is expected at the port on 18 May.
Operations at the plant were suspended in April 2014, following a safety investigation into a pipeline rupture that caused a hydrocarbon vapour release.
Chevron owns a 36.4pc stake in Angola LNG, alongside state-owned Sonangol with 22.8pc, and BP, Total and Italy's Eni with 13.6pc each.
The terminal has seven dedicated 160,000m? vessels — the Cubal, Lobito, Malanje, Soyo, SonangolBenguela, SonangolEtosha and SonangolSambizanga.
