China Molybdenum starts APT trial production

OREANDA-NEWS. April 29, 2016. Hong-Kong and Shanghai-listed China Molybdenum has launched trial production at its new ammonium paratungstate (APT) plant.

The plant, located in Luoyang in China's central Henan province, will have a production capacity of 5,000 t/yr but the company has not said when it expects to reach full production.

China Molybdenum is one of the country's largest tungsten concentrate producers and the largest Chinese producer of ferro-molybdenum and molybdenum oxides.

Prices for 64pc grade tungsten ore wolframite have risen by Yn3,000/t (\\$7.13/metric tonne unit) at the lower end to Yn67,000-69,000/t up from Yn64,000-67,000/t assessed last week. Tungsten concentrate spot supply remains tight as producers are withholding material in anticipation of securing higher prices in the short term.
