OREANDA-NEWS. EVRAZ ZSMK has designed and certified a new rebar class – B500B according to DIN 488-2:2009-08 standard. The product has successfully passed mechanical and endurance tests, proving compliance with requirements of DIN-2:2009-08 standard. The certificate allows EVRAZ to start supplies of 10-40 mm В500В rebars to Europe.

This is the first time EVRAZ ZSMK has produced rebar for the European market. The pilot batch includes samples with diameters of 10, 20 and 40 mm.

"The expansion of construction products’ export is one of the strategic goals for EVRAZ,” noted Ilya Shirokobrod, EVRAZ Vice President, Sales. “DIN 488 standard is one of the most difficult for certification, but also one of the most important. We expect that the certificate will contribute to further promotion of our products in Europe."

Meanwhile EVRAZ expands rebar sales in other regions. EVRAZ has already gained the ASTM certification for Grade40 and Grade60 ASTM А615 rebar for USA. This product is measured in inches, so EVRAZ ZSMK specialists had to master production of new diameters. In addition, ASTM A615 rebar is hot-rolled without accelerated cooling, therefore, the chemical composition of the steel grade has to meet additional requirements.

Also EVRAZ ZSMK has developed CS:2012 rebar for the markets of South-East Asia.  The first lot – 5 thousand tons – has already been shipped to Hong Kong.
