Amazon's restaurant deliveries come to San Francisco
OREANDA-NEWS. April 27, 2016. The e-retailer announced it expanded its free, one-hour restaurant delivery service to 33 zip codes across the city, partnering with more than 115 local restaurants, including Big Chef Tom's Belly Burgers, , The Monk's Kettle and Nick's Crispy Tacos.
The Seattle company's restaurant service is now in eight US markets. It's is available only to its Prime members within the Prime Now mobile app. Yet, it will have to work hard to stand out in San Francisco, where a number of food delivery companies are already available, including Postmates, Uber and others.
Looking to do just that, Amazon also on Tuesday unveiled a "price guarantee," promising no markups for delivered meals in all the cities where it delivers for restaurants. If a customer is charged a higher price than what's shown on a restaurant's current online menu within 24 hours of purchase, Amazon will fully refund the price of that one item.
