OREANDA-NEWS. April 27, 2016. Henkel has developed a new innovative formulation for Loctite 577 Thread Sealant that provides higher oil tolerance, greater temperature resistance, and improved curing on passive metals such as stainless steel.

Loctite thread sealants offer a reliable alternative to tapes and pastes, preventing leakage of gasses and liquids. For more than 60 years, Loctite thread sealants have helped industry to secure success by increasing reliability and reducing unscheduled and costly downtime and equipment failure.

The formulation offers improved performance under real-world production and maintenance conditions: the new oil-tolerant formula ensures a more consistent cure on contaminated surfaces. The new Loctite 577 provides improved curing on passive metals without an activator, simplifying the application process and supports the use of corrosion resistant pipes and fittings. The thread sealant offers better performance by enabling higher operating temperatures without leaks: Loctite 577 is temperature resistant up to 180°C.

Loctite 577 is a medium-strength general purpose thread sealant for straight/tapered and straight/straight threads. It is well-suited to overhead applications, since its gel-like form resists dripping. It meets NSF P1 and DVGW approvals.

Loctite 577 thread sealant prevents leaks caused by vibrational loosening and other stresses, and will not shred, shrink or crack. It prevents galling and corrosion in the thread and eliminates seized assemblies.
