Eastman, colorFabb Add Filament for Advanced 3D Printing
Released in March 2016, colorFabb_HT joins nGen and colorFabb_XT filaments in the 3D printing portfolio from colorFabb and the Eastman Amphora™ range of copolyesters. This newest offering provides more 3D printing opportunities for the prosumer, including heat resistance up to 100°C In addition, colorFabb_HT provides even more durability than the other colorFabb-Eastman offerings. “colorFabb_HT empowers professional users to move beyond prototyping, allowing them to create more durable and useful items,” said Ruud Rouleaux, managing director, colorFabb. “It’s an engineering material that can be used for real-world applications, making 3D-printed objects fully functional.”
Eastman Amphora™ HT5300 3D polymer provides advanced overhang ability, excellent toughness and temperature resistance, good looks and superior melt strength. The polymer allows users to print products with tight tolerances and multicomponent parts, on account of its superior dimensional stability and allowance printing to exacting dimensions.
In addition, unlike polylactic acid, Eastman Amphora™ HT5300 won’t degrade at higher temperatures. Due to its high melt strength, various angles in printed parts can be printed without support material, resulting in cost savings over materials that require support printing.
“The addition of the HT5300 3D polymer to the Eastman Amphora™ portfolio, with its ability to withstand temperatures of 100°C, allows a powerful entry into completely new segments,” said Alex Dudal, market development manager, Eastman Chemical Company. “The first Amphora offerings — Eastman Amphora™ AM1800 and AM3300 3D polymers — are geared toward a wider user base, particularly for those who do prototyping. The HT5300 3D polymer is suited for professional users who require more durability.”
colorFabb_HT will be showcased at Hannover Messe — the world’s largest trade show for industrial technology — at the Start-up and Innovation Square, Hall 4, Stand C52, April 25-29. There, colorFabb will be printing the filament on the just-launched STACKER® S4. With premium-grade components, the S4 is a high-end fused filament fabrication printer suitable for industrial use by professional designers, manufacturers, and research and college organizations.
The S4 has four nozzles and a large build size (14 x 20 x 25 inches), giving it high volume to make large parts and the ability to make multiple parts at once. The S4 can print at temperatures as high as 300°C, allowing the perfect setup to print new-temperature filaments, such as colorFabb_HT.
