SEPD charges ahead with battery storage workshops
OREANDA-NEWS. Battery storage technology is a subject gathering more and more interest among SEPD’s customer base and so, following on from this increasing demand for knowledge, the company’s Connections team has recently hosted two Battery Storage Workshops at its Cosham offices.
Customers and stakeholders from across SEPD’s distribution area in central southern England came along to the workshops to learn more about how battery storage technology works, the installation process and also the benefits that it can bring, whether on a small scale microgeneration project or a larger, distributed generation development.
Battery storage technology enables customers to store up unused electricity during the day and then use it at a later date. Depending on the tariff the customer has with their own supplier, this can potentially reduce their individual electricity costs and help them get the best out of their equipment.
The event featured talks from various members of SEPD’s Connections team, with topics including design considerations and the application process, and also presentations by colleagues from SEPD’s Future Networks team who gave updates on the company’s own range of Energy Storage products.
Trung Tran, from SEPD’s Engineering and Investment team, was delighted with both the number of customers in attendance, and also their wide range of business interests:
"Battery storage is a topic that is cropping up more and more in the conversations we’re having with customers and this increasing interest was reflected not only in the fantastic turnout we’ve had here today, but also by the wide variety of questions I received from the floor after I gave my presentation. There’s a real appetite for more information on battery storage and we’re keen to engage with our customers to help them learn more about this exciting technology."
SEPD holds regular workshops on a variety of topics - customers can find out more about these and book a place by visiting our online events calendar, which is located at www.ssepd.co.uk/stakeholderevent/basicsearch.
