St. Petersburg car industry showed a drop by 22% in I quarter
OREANDA-NEWS. According to the agency “Auto-Dealer-SPb", in I quarter of 2016 St. Petersburg plant Hyundai, Nissan and Toyota have produced 55,900 cars, which is less by 22% than in the same period of the last year. In March, the volume of production was 22 thousand cars. It is less by 19% than in the first month of spring of 2015, when during two weeks the plant Nissan did not work, and it was already discontinued the production of basic models at GM - Chevrolet Cruze and Opel Astra.
As before, the greatest number of cars, produced in St. Petersburg, falls on the Hyundai plant. The share of enterprise in the total volume of car production in the northern capital is 74%. Nissan has approximately 16% and 10% for the Toyota plant.
Despite the failure in March, the share of St. Petersburg car industry with respect to the all-Russian volume of production grew in I quarter and it was 22.4% against 21.1% in January-March of 2015.
The Top-25 of best-selling cars in Russia includes five models of the St. Petersburg production - Hyundai Solaris (the leader of the Russian car market) and KIA Rio, Toyota Camry, Nissan Qashqai and Nissan X-Trail.
In March, the car plants of St. Petersburg assembled 7 car models – they are Nissan Qashqai, Nissan X-Trail, Nissan Murano, Nissan Pathfinder, Toyota Camry, Hyundai Solaris and KIA Rio.
