OREANDA-NEWS. April 22, 2016. McGraw Hill Financial (NYSE: MHFI) announced today that it has once again been ranked as one of the "100 Best Corporate Citizens" by Corporate Responsibility Magazine. The Company ranked 11th, marking the 8th consecutive year it has been recognized by making this list.
McGraw Hill Financial's ranking reflects its continued focus on reducing its carbon footprint and commitment to employees and communities, and transparency. Specific activities include a 20% reduction in greenhouse gases and 14% increase in recycled waste since its 2013 baseline year, the development of a new philanthropic program to promote women entrepreneurs, as well as a record of employee volunteerism. In 2015, the Company's employee volunteer program, Community Impact Month, saw 5,000 employees volunteer to support 70 nonprofit partners in 17 countries, covering five continents.
"Acting as a good corporate citizen is a part of everything we do," said Douglas L. Peterson, President and Chief Executive Officer of McGraw Hill Financial. "We leverage who we are as a business with fantastic employees and a wide range of rich data and analytics capabilities to help people acquire the professional skills they need for jobs in technology, information analytics and finance; to promote sustainable markets through our ESG products; and to support women entrepreneurs by facilitating access to capital. This focus is at the heart of our mission to strengthen communities and build more sustainable economies."
The 100 Best List documents approximately 300 data points of disclosure and performance measures gathered from publicly available information in seven categories: environment, climate change, employee relations, human rights, governance, finance, and philanthropy & community support.
To demonstrate its commitment to supporting women entrepreneurs, McGraw Hill Financial will be joining MicroMentor, a growing online community of entrepreneurs and volunteer mentors, in June 2016. The Company's employees will volunteer to support women entrepreneurs who want to start and grow businesses in the U.S. and around the world by connecting through one-on-one virtual mentor-mentee relationships. Employees will be available to help entrepreneurs with business planning, marketing strategies and finance.
