OREANDA-NEWS. Tele2, an alternative mobile, has been named a leader in data speed among operators providing mobile services in Moscow Region. The operator has taken the second place in terms of voice. That’s the result of the research carried out by Roskomnadzor (Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Telecom, Information Technologies and Mass Communications).

Roskomnadzor tested the quality of four mobile operators, providing services in Moscow Region, between 20 January and 10 March. It was based on the methodology suggested by the Russian Ministry for Communications and Mass Media. Conditions of the research were equal for all operators.

According to the research, Tele2 showed best results in three of four listed parameters describing the quality of mobile Internet. The operator has the highest speed of data transmitted to subscriber, a minimum number of failed server connections and interrupted html sessions. Tele2 has also performed the second best result out of four in terms of voice quality parameters.

That was the first test of quality carried out by Roskomnadzor after Tele2 launch in the Moscow metropolitan area. At the end of 2015, the TelecomDaily analytical agency held a similar research. Roskomnadzor results coincided with the agency’s data: Tele2 was named a leader in data speed based on the 3G technology and was on par with its peers in 4G. It was ranked second in terms of voice quality having lost just a little to the winner.

The company is now providing high-quality coverage on the territory populated by over 90% of residents of Moscow and Moscow Region. Over 1Q16, the operator has increased the number of base stations in the region by 7%.

Aleksey Dmitriyev, chief technical officer at Moscow macroregion of Tele2:

“By the launch of the network in Moscow Region, it took us only a year to have rolled out a modern network: we are now providing our clients with high-quality voice and high-speed wireless Internet. Tele2 services are now available to 99% residents of Moscow Region and the company’s network counts over 8 thou base stations. The Roskomnadzor research has proved that Tele2 clients enjoy the perfect quality of connections. We are not lagging behind the Big Three who have created their networks over 10 years but outperform them in many indicators. Tele2 subscribers can be confident that the network development – coverage expansion and improvement of quality – will not stop for a minute.”
