OREANDA-NEWS. April 21, 2016.
CalAmp (NASDAQ: CAMP), a leading provider of wireless products, services and solutions, today announced that the
Wisconsin Public Service Corporation (WPS) has deployed
CalAmp's Viper™ SC+ in conjunction with DeviceOutlook™ to improve grid visibility, better manage distribution lines and enhance services for its customers as part of its grid modernization initiative.
CalAmp's installed solution allows WPS to optimize and better manage heavy loads, isolate and mitigate effects from local outages, and remotely control and obtain diagnostics from relays, fault detectors and re-closers.
"We're pleased to work with WPS to develop a solution that delivers an optimized, rugged and secure wireless network, resulting in more coverage with less equipment," said
Mike Zachan, Senior Vice President and General Manager of CalAmp's Wireless Networks business. "Part of a broad range of innovative narrowband products, Viper SC+ reflects CalAmp's continuing investment and leadership in technology development for the energy sector."
The Viper SC+ enhances network security and quality of service for SCADA, distribution automation, outage management and other critical electrical, water wastewater, and oil and gas distribution applications. Designed with industrial-grade components, the hardened Viper SC+ can be reliably deployed in harsh environments, and its dynamic transmission modes with multispeed options enables the throughput of each RF link to be optimized for a variety of conditions. The Viper SC+ integrates seamlessly with DeviceOutlook, CalAmp's proven cloud-based enterprise-grade remote management and control application, as a complete solution for managing diverse, large-scale radio implementations.
