AOL buys virtual reality company to pair up with Huffington Post
OREANDA-NEWS. April 21, 2016. AOL's latest acquisition will bring 360-degree video and virtual reality content to the Huffington Post, the digital media company said.
AOL has signed a deal to acquire RYOT, an immersive media company and virtual content studio that creates films, videos, 360-degree videos and virtual reality. Los Angeles-based RYOT will work with the AOL-owned Huffington Post to create content for the online news publication's video operations.
RYOT has previously worked with the Huffington Post on a project covering the European refugee crisis. "RYOT's innovative mediums and eye for compelling content is a unique differentiator in the 360-degree space," Jared Grusd, CEO of the Huffington Post, said in an emailed statement, "and we're thrilled to welcome them to our team."
