OREANDA-NEWS. April 20, 2016. The Arch Coal  Foundation presented 11 West Virginia teachers today with its Golden Apple  Award.

The Golden Apple  Awards are part of the Arch Coal Foundation’s prestigious teacher recognition  program, which recently honored 10 outstanding West Virginia classroom teachers  with its highest award – the Arch Coal Teacher Achievement Award. Golden Apple  Award recipients earned finalist status in the program, distinguishing them as  being in the top tier of the 2016 nominees.
“Arch Coal is proud to recognize these excellent  classroom teachers with Golden Apple Awards,” said Russ Lorince, vice president  of external affairs for Arch Coal. “They teach, they counsel, they inspire, and  all while enabling their students to learn and to achieve at high levels. We salute  their professionalism, dedication and commitment to both their students and the  teaching profession.”

Teachers are nominated for the Arch Coal awards by the  public and recipients are selected by a panel of previous award winners. The  awards have honored outstanding educators for 28 years and serve as West  Virginia’s longest-running, privately sponsored teacher recognition program.
