Is Apple operating a secret car lab in Germany? - Roadshow
According to the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ), which cites "informed sources," Apple is running a facility in Berlin that's staffed with folks from all walks of the auto industry, from sales to engineering. The lab isn't working directly on a vehicle, but rather it's an incubator of sorts, studying new ideas and methods to make them a reality.
There is still no definitive proof that Apple's "Project Titan," which many consider the code name for its still-secretive automotive project, even exists, yet these unconfirmed reports continue to roll in. FAZ's story mentions tropes present in other rumor mill stories, including whispers of an electric drivetrain. Apple did not immediately return a request for comment.
The "Apple Car" made headlines once again earlier this month, when Motor Trend released its own vision of an Apple-branded vehicle and invited our fearless leader Tim Stevens to talk about it. However, social-media teasing made it seem like MT had a scoop on its hands, so when the concept dropped, reception was lukewarm.
