Sberbank and Skolkovo Fund Begin Preparing to Construct DPC
OREANDA-NEWS. Sberbank and the Skolkovo Fund have begun constructing the data processing centre (DPC) in Skolkovo Innovation Centre.
"The new DPC will make Sberbank's IT systems more reliable and facilitate further growth of the bank's IT infrastructure. It will be the largest data processing centre in Russia and one of the largest in Europe. This project is very significant, for Sberbank Skolkovo Innovation Centre and all of Russia," commented Stanislav Kuznetsov, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of Sberbank.
The new DPC will have a TIER II reliability rating as per Uptime Institute's international assessment scale, which means that the system will be online no less than 99.98% of the time. Sberbank's DPC will have a capacity of up to 35 MW. The project has the highest possible energy efficiency and employs innovative cooling and uninterruptible power supply systems.
The international competition to decide who would build the DPC was won by a consortium headed by Engineering Systems and Service. The consortium includes Lanit, Schneider Electric and Stroi-Garant.
In 2012 Sberbank launched its first MegaDPC - Yuzhny Port. The project won a number of international awards, including "Facility Design Innovation" at the Green Enterprise IT Awards 2012 (GEIT) and "Innovation in The Mega Data Center" at DatacenterDynamics Awards 2012.
