OREANDA-NEWS The Arbitration Court of Crimea has registered a claim for recovery from Ukraine of damage to the republic's budget due to the energy blockade of the peninsula totaling more than 3,156 trillion rubles, Chairman of the Crimean State Council Vladimir Konstantinov said.
"This is a very significant event for us, a serious result of the work we have done," Konstantinov wrote in his telegram channel.
He added that the Crimean authorities will continue to form claims against Ukraine and Western countries.
"We will do everything to bring this work to its logical conclusion. Let's count all the damage done to us down to a penny," concluded Konstantinov.
Earlier it was reported that the defendants in the case are the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the Ministry of Energy of the country and the national energy company Ukrenergo.
The explosion of electrical supports on the territory of the Kherson region of all high-voltage lines leading to the Crimea occurred on the night of November 22, 2015, as a result, the peninsula was de-energized. Russia began building an energy bridge from the Kuban to the Crimea, it was launched at full capacity in May 2016.
Later, the Tavrichesky and Balaklava thermal power plants with a total capacity of 920 MW were built in Crimea, which, taking into account the previously operating generation and the existing energy bridge, completely covered the needs of the peninsula.
At the end of October 2023, the Arbitration Court of Crimea satisfied the claim of the republic's authorities to recover from Ukraine damage from the water blockade of the peninsula in the amount of 152.6 billion rubles. The plaintiff was the Council of Ministers of Crimea, the defendants were the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, the Ukrainian State Agency for Water Resources and the Department of the North Crimean Canal.
The water blockade of Crimea began in the spring of 2014 with the closure of the dam of the North Crimean Canal in the Kherson region. The Russian military eliminated it in February 2022 after the start of a special military operation in Ukraine. The water in the canal stopped flowing again in June 2023 due to the destruction of the Kakhovskaya HPP.
