A diamond weighing 262.5 carats was mined in Yakutia

OREANDA-NEWS A large diamond of jewelry quality weighing 262.5 carats was mined at the Billakh deposit in the Anabar district of Yakutia, Alrosa reported.
"The diamond was discovered by night shift workers of the Anabara Diamonds company during the washing of diamond—bearing sands," the company said.
The crystal was sent for examination.
This is the second record-breaking diamond found in Russia in less than a year. So, on September 10, 2023, a crystal weighing 390.7 carats was mined at the same deposit. This stone has become the largest diamond jewelry in Russia over the past ten years.
The Ebelakh deposit is famous for its large and colored crystals. In 2017, the most expensive diamond in the history of Russia was mined here — a pure pink crystal of 27.85 carats, from which the "Ghost of the Rose" diamond was subsequently cut.
