OREANDA-NEWS. January 24, 2018. Trafigura has signed a long-term contract with Plains All American Pipeline to move 300,000 b/d of crude from the Permian basin to Corpus Christi, Texas.

The commitment is on Plains' Cactus 2 pipeline project, which is slated to be in service in the third quarter of 2019.

Trafigura said the deal will allow it to move crude from the world's fastest growing producing region to US and international refining customers and to its export terminal in Corpus Christi. Trafigura co-owns the terminal with Buckeye Partners and has exclusive throughput rights.

Plains is moving forward with Cactus 2 construction after a successful open season which ended yesterday. The project includes a combination of existing pipelines and two new pipelines, adding up to 585,000 b/d of takeaway capacity out of the Permian.

The first new pipeline will move crude from Wink to McCamey in west Texas and the second will extend from McCamey to the Corpus Christi/Ingleside area.
