The share of sales of foreign cars of the Russian assembly exceeded 57%
OREANDA-NEWS The greatest share of sales of cars in our country falls on foreign brands of Russian production. This conclusion was made by the analysts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" by the results of the market research of new cars in Russia.
Thus, according to the results of 2016, the market share of foreign cars of the Russian assembly reached 57.5%, which corresponds to 755 thousand units. In 2011, this indicator was 40%. As the head of the press service of the analytic agency "AUTOSTAT", Azat Timerkhanov notes, this is quite a natural process, for the last decade the assembly plants of many foreign automakers have been opened in our country.
If the share of foreign cars of the Russian assembly has been growing steadily for the last six years, the import process has seen a reverse process; import of cars to Russia has decreased significantly. For example, in 2011 imported foreign cars occupied 35% of the market, and now they have own only 20.9% (274 thousand units).
We should note also that even domestic brands (LADA and UAZ) recorded a slightly larger figure (21.6% or 284 thousand units). In this case, for the first time in the last few years, their market share has overcome the 20% threshold.
