OREANDA-NEWS By the results of the research, carried out by the analytic agency "AUTOSTAT", there were sold 47.1 thousand new cars equipped with diesel engines in Russia in the first six months of 2017. This is 4.4% less than the result of a year ago (49.3 thousand units).

Given the fact that in the first half of year the whole Russian market grew by 7%, the share of diesel cars fell by about one percentage point - from 7.9% to 7.1%.

The leader of the Russian market among diesel cars is the SUV Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, whose sales for 6 months of 2017 were about 4,3 thousand units, which is less by 4% than a year ago. The second place was taken by the crossover Renault Duster, the result of which exceeded 3.2 thousand units (+ 22%). At the same time, Toyota Land Cruiser (3,1 thousand units) dropped to the third place, its sales volumes fell by 27%.

The top-five of best selling cars with diesel engines is closed by two models of BMW - crossovers X5 (2,5 thousand units) and X6 (1,8 thousand units). But if the first of them demonstrates a decline in sales by 1%, then the second one shows an increase of 30%.
