Texas refineries rally for United Way
OREANDA-NEWS. June 30, 2016. “We were very fortunate to have the outpouring of support from MPC through the great leadership at MPC,” notes Chris Delesandri, UWGCM executive director. “Words cannot express our gratitude for the tremendous and continuous support.”
The UWGCM recently recognized GBR and TRD employees for their efforts with a Spirit of the Mainland Industrial Division Award, which is given to organizations that are committed to making a difference in the community. At the same time, GBR Community Relations Representative Ruth Rendon was named UWGCM Volunteer of the Year.
“It’s a big deal to make a golf tournament successful year after year, but to make it grow and grow takes a superstar,” notes Connie Bradley, who serves as general manager of TRD and president of the UWGCM Board. “Ruth was a driving force behind the addition of a second Marathon golf tournament last fall – after barely finishing the spring tournament she had chaired.”
Rendon also has served on the United Way Allocations Committee for many years and is one of six Allocations Committee panel leaders. “She champions the United Way by creatively finding new ways to grow the campaign each year – both in the plant and out,” adds Bradley.
