OREANDA-NEWS. June 09, 2016. It looks like Samsung SDI could get a piece of Tesla's energy business, according to a tweet from Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk.

Musk initially was responding to earlier reports from Reuters citing unnamed sources that said Samsung batteries would find their way into the Models S and X. Not so, according to Musk, who tweeted, "Would like to clarify that Tesla is working exclusively with Panasonic for Model 3 cells. News articles claiming otherwise are incorrect."

But when asked by a follower if Samsung might supply batteries for Tesla Energy, Musk said "yes." That answer was first spotted by Bloomberg News.

Tesla Energy makes the Powerwall for home use and the Powerpack for utilities and businesses. Both store energy after being charged by either solar panels or at night from the electric grid, when rates are low.
