Samsung selling dual-camera modules to Xiaomi, says report
OREANDA-NEWS. June 27, 2016. Chinese smartphone makers Xiaomi and LeEco could soon be offering phones featuring dual cameras, much like the Huawei P9, the Korean Herald reports.
What's more, Samsung Electro Mechanics will be supplying the dual-camera modules to both smartphone makers in July, sources told the publication.
"Samsung Electro Mechanics will offer a true dual camera to the market in the second half of 2016," a Samsung spokesperson said in a statement. "However, we cannot confirm to which handset vendors, at this time."
A Xiaomi spokesperson declined to comment.
Besides Xiaomi and LeEco, fourth-largest smartphone vendor Oppo may also be another candidate shopping for dual-camera modules from Samsung. Given that Oppo phones, like its recent R9, take a camera-centric focus, it would make sense.
