As part of this agreement, SAIC cyber professionals will contribute their knowledge and expertise to enhance cyber curriculum and programs for students entering the Cyber Academy beginning with the 2016-2017 school year.

The three-year, \\$300,000 commitment is part of SAIC’s continued focus on supporting education initiatives designed to develop America’s future workforce, and represents a new and innovative way in which industry and education can collaborate to provide students with increased learning opportunities.

“SAIC is committed to the development of our nation’s future cyber workforce. Their education is vital to the success of companies like ours that work to counter cyber security threats,” said John Gully, SAIC senior vice president for market strategy and investments.

As part of the Cyber Academy, students may also earn college credits and certifications from the University of Alabama in Huntsville through the affiliated College Academy.

“We appreciate the ingenuity that Dr. Wardynski and Huntsville City Schools have demonstrated by establishing the Cyber and College academies. Our employees are eager to begin working with administrators, educators, and especially the students to implement these programs in the coming months,” continued Gully.

This new initiative with SAIC broadens those efforts by involving SAIC cyber professionals in the delivery of cyber curriculum and programs that will allow for enhanced development, assessment, and implementation of education programs to develop the future cyber workforce.

“The collaboration between SAIC and Huntsville City Schools demonstrates the commitment to workforce development efforts that will prepare our students for careers in the cyber security field,” said Dr. Casey Wardynski, superintendent for Huntsville City Schools. “Both Huntsville City Schools and SAIC are focused on workforce readiness and this opportunity will allow the school district to serve as the Center of Excellence for Cyber in K12 Education.”
