St. Petersburg plant Toyota launched the production of RAV4 crossover, which has become the second model produced at the plant together with the business sedan Toyota Camry. Cars Toyota RAV4 of Russian production will be delivered to the markets of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus, informed the press service of "Toyota Motor".

Recall that the decision about the launch of a second model was made in 2013, on the basis of consistently growing demand for crossover in Russia. For several years the car for outdoor activities Toyota RAV4 is not only the leader of the segment of compact crossovers, but also one of the best-selling Toyota brand in Russia.

As previously reported "AUTOSTAT", at the end of 2015 during the preparation for the launch of the second model the production capacity of "Toyota Motor" in St. Petersburg has doubled - from 50 to 100 thousand cars per year. Investments in the project of expanding of the production capacity of the enterprise and the launch Toyota RAV4 to date were 9.7 billion rubles.

Due to the beginning of the production of a second model at the plant there is conducted the hiring of new employees. In total, with taking into account the gradual increase of production volumes in the coming months, the company will create about 800 new jobs.
