Leningradskaya AES-Avto Will Test Electrobus
OREANDA-NEWS On Tuesday, 25 April, a KAMAZ-6282 electrobus was given to Leningradskaya AES-Avto in the city of Sosnovy Bor of Leningrad Oblast for testing operation.
The event took place on the territory of Leningrad NPP in Sosnovy Bor with the participation of Aleksandr Drozdenko, Governor of Leningrad Oblast, Andrey Petrov, General Director of REA, Vladimir Pereguda, Director of the branch of REA Leningrad nuclear power plant, Vladimir Sadovsky, Head of Administration of Sosnovy Bor City District, and KAMAZ PTC's representatives.
The participants tested a noiseless and eco-friendly electrobus having travelled several kilometers in it and noted its comfort and long-term advantages. In particular, Vladimir Pereguda thanked the initiators of the project for that they had chosen Leningrad NPP for testing. In his opinion, it will enable to raise eco-friendliness of the urban environment and riding comfort because the electric bus doesn't emit hazardous substances into environment and produces less noise. Governor of Leningrad Oblast stressed the necessity to prepare a network of stations for powering electrobuses.
Leningrad AES-Avto is part of Energoatominvest and performs transport and logistics tasks for nuclear power plants in Russia. The enterprise will be testing the KAMAZ electric bus for two months.
The unique low-floor electrobus KAMAZ-6282 of the second generation is adapted for handicapped passengers and features videocameras and satellite navigation. Besides, the model has lithium–titanate (LTO) accummulators, which is another advantage. The electric bus is easily charged even at low temperatures. The electric bus can restore its charge for 15 minutes using an ultra-fast charging station. Also, due to a relatively low weight of accummulators, the KAMAZ electric bus can transport a great number of passengers. Its total passenger capacity is 85 people, including 24 seats.
The accummulator is designed for at least 20 thous. cycles of full charge/discharge, and this is more than 15 years of intensive operation. With account of a low maintenance and operation cost, the KAMAZ electrobus is paid back in the middle of its service life.
The electric bus has already been tested in Skolkovo, Moscow, and later on the roads of Saint Petersburg. The electric bus travelled 14 thous. km in all during the tests. Positive feedback was received after the tests of the novelty: passengers and drivers note smooth driving, noiselessness, fast acceleration, and eco-friendliness.
