OREANDA-NEWS. July 04, 2016. Kaiser Permanente ranked seventh among the 50 large companies on Computerworld magazine’s latest list of Best Places to Work in IT. This national recognition honors companies that excel in five people-focused areas: diversity, career development, retention, benefits and training.

Rankings are based on the quality of the organization’s offerings in these areas and feedback provided by IT employees. Organizations in the large company category have 5,000 or more employees. Computerworld groups organizations by company size to accurately compare work environments.

Being named as a best place to work is important recognition. It underscores Kaiser Permanente’s commitment to creating an environment and work experience that employees can embrace and be proud of. It also illustrates how passionate our IT employees are about the Kaiser Permanente mission to provide high-quality, affordable health care services and to improve the health of our members and the communities we serve.

This is the seventh consecutive year that Kaiser Permanente has made this list, and seventh is our highest ranking to date. Taken together, these sevens are a testament to Kaiser Permanente’s consistency and commitment to continuous improvement.

IT also recognized for innovation

In addition, Kaiser Permanente was named to CIO magazine’s 2016 CIO 100 list. The award recognizes 100 organizations that have distinguished themselves by creating business value through the innovative use of technology. This is the second year in a row that Kaiser Permanente has been named to the list. Recipients of the CIO 100 Award are selected through a three-step process that includes evaluation by external judges and CIO magazine editors to identify companies that stand out for leading-edge IT practices and measurable results.

Kaiser Permanente uses information technology to support a broad variety of health care operations, from care delivery and laboratories to pharmacy and health plans. Our IT department employs more than 7,000 people, who build and maintain Kaiser Permanente’s information technology infrastructure, data, and applications, including Kaiser Permanente HealthConnect®, the world’s largest civilian electronic health record.
