OREANDA-NEWS. September 26, 2016. Permanente Medical Group has been awarded the 2016 Excellence in Healthcare Award from the Integrated Healthcare Association for top performance on clinical quality, patient experience and cost measures.

Of the 200-plus physician organizations participating in California, only 34 physician organizations attained the Excellence in Healthcare Award performance standards for 2016, and of those, 24 represented Permanente Medical Groups.

“This recognition highlights the excellence of the medical care and service provided by our highly skilled physicians and staff,” said Robert Pearl, MD, executive director and CEO of The Permanente Medical Group. “This award reflects our success in prevention, the personalized care we provide using our advanced information technology, and the excellent outcomes we achieve through our sophisticated centers of excellence where we treat the most complex diseases. As a result, our members have a lower chance of dying from heart disease, cancer and strokes than patients outside of Kaiser Permanente.”

The Permanente Medical Group was recognized throughout the Kaiser Permanente Northern California region, including the following 12 areas: Walnut Creek/Antioch, Fremont/San Leandro, Fresno, Modesto/Manteca/Stockton, Oakland/Richmond, Redwood City, Roseville/Sacramento, San Rafael, Santa Rosa, South Sacramento, South San Francisco and Vallejo/Vacaville.

TPMG has more than 8,000 partner physicians and provides medical care to nearly 4 million Kaiser Permanente members in Northern California.

“Through the Excellence in Healthcare Award, we recognize physician organizations that are making a real difference in their communities and in their patients’ lives every day through their commitment to high-quality, affordable, patient-centered care,” said IHA President and CEO Jeffrey Rideout, MD. The award was presented at IHA’s annual stakeholder meeting today.

IHA is a statewide, non-profit leadership group that promotes quality improvement, accountability and affordability of health care in California. For more information, visit www.iha.org.
