OREANDA-NEWS. Volabus presented two new products at once - a 12-meter low-floor electric bus CityRithm-12E and a 10-meter gas-powered city bus of the middle class. As the press service of the company informed, the presentation was attended by the governor of the Volgograd region, Andrei Bocharov, and city manager of Volgograd, Vitaly Likhachev.
Interest in electric transport is not idle. The trolleybus park of the city is obsolete, its service and renovation requires large investments. In addition, linkage to the contact network limits significantly the maneuverability of this type of transport and often creates congestion.
Head of Bakulin Motors Group, Alexey Bakulin (developing the Volgabus project) demonstrated clearly all the advantages of a bus on electric traction: low noise level, a powerful air conditioner, no need to create a charging infrastructure (the car is charged at night from a standard 380V power source). In combination with maneuverability and a completely low-floor cabin, these characteristics create good prerequisites for the production of electric buses on routes. Lithium-polymer batteries are produced in Russia and they are able to work effectively for at least 10 years, by preserving their properties. The engine is also produced domestically. It is able to develop a power of 115 kW and, in combination with an automatic gearbox, provide decent dynamics and smooth acceleration / deceleration.
