OREANDA-NEWS. June 28, 2016. Honeywell signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Civil Aviation University of China (CAUC),  forming a partnership to develop next generation talent for China’s booming aviation industry.  Honeywell and CAUC will collaborate to provide academic and practical learning programs for Chinese students, including the Honeywell Principles of Engineering Program and a selective course open to all CAUC students in the autumn semester of 2016, internships and graduate training, as well as a Honeywell Aero Star Student Contest, an innovation contest among China’s top universities to encourage ideas for future aviation technologies.

Vice President and General Manager of Honeywell Technology Solutions (HTS) China Wesley Luo signed the MOU with CAUC in Tianjin where he also led the Honeywell delegation on a tour of the aviation labs and engineering center at CAUC and exchanged ideas for broader scope collaboration with the university.

As an important talent source for China’s aviation industry, CAUC plays a key role in technical expertise training and scientific research covering a variety of fields in the aviation industry. Today one third of the engineering and management workforce in China’s aviation industry are CAUC alumni.

Honeywell is actively involved in the development of China’s aviation industry and provides continuous support for local talent and research development through a number of initiatives. In 2009, Honeywell opened its China Aerospace Academy in Shanghai to provide technical workshops and train customer support and operations leaders to support the needs of a growing aerospace industry in China. Honeywell has hosted the Honeywell Aero Star innovation contest since 2015.
