Ford bumps up 2017 Fusion Sport torque output
While horsepower remains the same at 325, torque has been bumped up to 380 pound-feet, a net gain of 30 twist-units. Ford is quite happy with this figure -- so much so, in fact, that it's boasting about how the Fusion Sport out-twists everything from the Audi A6 3.0T to the Maserati Ghibli and even the freaking Porsche 911 Carrera S. Not exactly the same demographic, but hey, if you're proud of it...
Of course, the Fusion Sport's output mollywops anything in its actual segment. There is no Honda Accord Type R or Toyota Camry...actually, Toyota doesn't even have a moniker for its performance-oriented cars, because they don't exist (save for the forthcoming 86). It's creating a league of its own over here.
Ford claims that folks have been asking for a hopped-up Fusion ever since it went on sale. While I'm a bit saddened that Ford didn't rely on two excellent badge names that already exist on other products -- ST and RS -- I'm still happy to see a \\$33,475 sedan with enough torque to keep nearly every enthusiast pleased on public roads.
If you're interested in how it drives, here's Brian Cooley to tell you all about it:
