Belden Industrial Switch Enables High-Speed Communication to Meet Increasing Bandwidth Needs
OREANDA-NEWS. Belden Inc. (NYSE: BDC), a global leader in signal transmission solutions for mission-critical applications, has developed a new compactly designed, yet ruggedized, switch for large-scale industrial networks. The MSP40 Full Gigabit Ethernet Layer 3 switch features 28 Gigabit speed ports – more than other modular compact switches on the market, and these interchangeable ports enable data speeds up to 2.5 Gigabits.
"Reliable, high-speed data transmission isn’t an option any more, and with more data than ever before, industrial networks need to keep up with the evolving bandwidth requirements," said Vinod Rana, product manager at Belden. "We designed our new MSP40 switch with modularity in mind, so that it would be easy to swap in different modules to meet current and future data transmission speeds. Right now, single Gigabit and 2.5 Gigabit speeds are needed, but we know 10 Gigabit speeds are right around the corner. The flexible nature of our device means you don’t need to purchase new hardware in order to adapt."
The MSP40 switch offers a unique combination of features – all designed to help network engineers and system integrators keep pace with growing bandwidth requirements in large industrial networks.
"Its small size and rugged casing make the MSP40 ideal for industrial applications that have limited space, such as along the trackside or in underground mines. Now, they can benefit from a high-performance switch that can handle their extreme environments, while also reliably transmitting data at higher speeds than ever before," added Rana.
With the launch of the MSP40 switch, a new module has also been introduced for applications that require more power, such as pan-tilt-zoom cameras. The Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+) module easily offers an additional 120 watts of power, when needed. All modules on the MSP40 switch are hot swappable on a live network, allowing for total flexibility and more uptime during times of network maintenance or upgrades.
