AvtoVAZ will produce the anniversary version of LADA 4x4
OREANDA-NEWS AVTOVAZ will present a new version of LADA 4x4 in 2017, dedicated to the anniversary of this SUV.
As it was reported by the press service of AVTOVAZ, 40 years ago, on April 5th, 1977, the serial production of VAZ-2121 "Niva" was started - the first completely original car developed at the Volzhsky Automobile Plant began. The carrier body, independent front suspension, front disc brakes - these "passenger" attributes were first used on SUV of such class. While in the world it was indstalled low-speed motors of large volume in all-terrain vehicles, VAZ used a high-speed engine. A permanent all-wheel drive was also a novelty. Usually on off-road cars of those times the main driving axle was the rear axle, and the front one was connected at the off-road. On the "Niva" the all- drive is always involved, and the car is at any time ready to overcome difficult areas.
Thanks to the original design, "Niva" has opened a new segment of the automotive market. Initially it was created for the countryside but it has become popular among the citizens - both in Russia and abroad. Developed for Russia, "Niva" for many years became the basis of VAZ export. There were times when up to 70% of "Niva" cars were supplied abroad. More than 530 thousand cars were exported, and today in different countries around the world there are fan clubs of LADA 4x4. "Niva" car was sold in Japan, England and other countries with left-hand traffic (for which in the 1980s a right-hand drive was produced).
LADA 4x4 became the basis for many modifications. The most famous variation is the long-base five-door LADA 4x4. The car is distinguished by a wheelbase enlarged by half a meter and the presence of five doors. The most modern variation on the theme of LADA 4x4 – is Urban.
