Income Gap between Urban, Rural Residents Narrows
OREANDA-NEWS. Data from China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Tuesday showed last year saw narrower income gap between Anhui's urban and rural residents than any of the nine years earlier.
Rural residents' per capita income rose 14.9 percent year-on-year in 2012 to 7,161 yuan (USD 1,137), while per capita disposable income of urbanites was 21,024 yuan, up 13 percent from a year ago, the NBS said, citing figures from a survey of rural and urban households around the province.
The income ratio between urban and rural residents stood at 2.94 : 1 in 2012, meaning city dwellers' average income was 2.94 times of that for rural people. The ratio shrank from 3.0 : 1 in 2011.
