The signing ceremony of the comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement between Hefei Municipal Government and University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) and the opening ceremony of Institute of Advanced Technology, USTC were held in the High-tech Zone of Hefei on the morning of October 24. Governor Li Bin, Yin Hejun, vice president of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhan Xialai, standing member of the CPC Anhui Provincial Committee and executive vice governor, Wu Cunrong, standing member of the CPC Anhui Provincial Committee and secretary of the CPC Hefei Municipal Committee, vice governors Ni Fake and Xie Guangxiang, Han Xiancong, secretary general of Anhui government, Xu Wu, party secretary of USTC, Hou Jianguo, president of USTC and other leaders attended the ceremonies. Yin Hejun, Zhan Xialai, and Wu Cunrong delivered speeches respectively.

Hou Jianguo and Mayor Zhang Qingjun signed "the comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement between Hefei Municipal Government and USTC" on behalf of two parties. According to the agreement, two parties will set Institute of Advanced Technology jointly and further promote the innovation-oriented city construction to enhance the regional original innovation capability and industrial competitiveness.

In addition, Hefei City actively supports USTC to be built as a world-class research university, including the construction of innovation platform, high-level talents, infrastructure and the surrounding environmental remediation.

Hou introduced that the institute was constantly attracting innovative resources at home and abroad, while actively promoting the industry-university collaboration and exploring the new model of training talents jointly by enterprises and universities.

At the ceremony, Liu Qingfeng, chairman of Anhui USTC iFLYTEK Co., on behalf of the company donated 10 million yuan to set "iFLYTEK Young Talents Fund" for talents introduction and cultivation. Xu Wu, Hou Jianguo and Zhang Qingjun signed the cooperation agreement with 10 strategic cooperative units on behalf of the institute. After the ceremony, Li Bin, Zhan Xialai, Wu Cunrong also visited the Institute of Advanced Technology.
