OREANDA-NEWS. June 06, 2012.  Yesterday the Government submitted to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine five bills to improve the quality and effectiveness of drugs and increased responsibility for the circulation of counterfeit medicines. This was informed by Prime Minister Mykola Azarov at a Cabinet meeting.

The Head of Government stressed the need to organize efficient passing of these bills in Parliament. "Minister of Health is responsible for this personally. We must explain the purpose of this new social initiative and to persuade MPs that it vitally is important for the country. In this area we have weak legislation. But the matter is about security and people's lives," Mykola Azarov highlighted.

He said the adoption of these bills would strengthen the responsibility of manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers of drugs by fraud or putting into circulation counterfeit drugs. "The most advanced labs for counterfeits detecting, as you know, we have. We managed to establish ones in each region. It is need a power of law that still once and for all to stop fooling the people, actually robbery of consumers, to prevent unfair advertising and, actually, to protect citizens from counterfeits," said PM.
