OREANDA-NEWS. March 14, 2012. An expanded wharf of Taiping Lake was put into operation in March. The move is seen as part of local authorities' effort to develop the lake into a national 5A scenic area.

The tourist spot has spent up to 100 million yuan (USD 15.9 million) on infrastructure construction, including extension of a tourist wharf, construction of a tourist service center, a floating dock and sidewalks around the lake and installation of lamps along major tourist routes. Besides, services are being improved in the spot.

Located between two renowned mountains- Huangshan Mountain and Jiuhua Mountain, the Taiping Lake scenic area is famous for mountains, brooks and small islands of various shapes. Dubbed "Huangshan Mountain's Lover" and "Oriental Lake Geneva", the lake began to launch a campaign last year to create a national 5A scenic spot.
