OREANDA-NEWS. July 08, 2011. A special joint meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers and the State Security Council chaired by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was held to consider an emergency situation, which had aroused from the ignition of pyrotechnic compositions designed for fireworks and stored in the special warehouses in the vicinities of Abadan. Pyrotechnic compositions had ignited due to the hot weather conditions.

The heads of the military and law enforcement agencies reported to the President on the urgent measures taken to liquidate the consequences of the accident.

No casualties and serious damage were reported. Medical and other aid was rendered to the population. A part of the population residing in immediate proximity to the scene of the accident was evacuated to safety.

Commenting on the reports, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov instructed the high-ranking military and law enforcement officials to take adequate measures and continue to search for the explosives, which had not ignited.

The Government of Turkmenistan and the concerned structures keep the situation under control. The special commission established on the Turkmen leader’s instructions is carrying out the necessary activities.
