Russian President Visited Air Assault Forces Base
OREANDA-NEWS. April 05, 2011. Dmitry Medvedev visited the base of the 45th Non-Integrated Special Purpose Guards Regiment of the Air Assault Forces nearby Kubinka in Moscow Region and decorated the regiment with the Order of Kutuzov, fixing the order and ribbon to the unit’s St George banner. The regiment was decorated for successfully performing its missions with courage and heroism.
The 45th Non-Integrated Special Purpose Guards Regiment of the Air Assault Forces was formed in 1994 and has taken part in numerous counterterrorism operations in the North Caucasus, as well as protected Russian citizens, including military servicemen’s families, in Kyrgyzstan in 2010.
President Medvedev inspected the base and its military equipment, laid flowers at a memorial to servicemen killed in mission, and spoke with the regiment’s personnel.
