Azerbaijan Ready to Use Space Systems for Alert and Emergency Response
OREANDA-NEWS. February 10, 2011.Keeping on preparation for start-up of the first national communications satellite, Azerbaijan is discussing issues of use of space systems to prevent and liquidate disaster situations.
The Ministry of Communications & Information Technologies of Azerbaijan reports that the MCIT delegation led by Mir-Heydar Ismayilov, the head of the Ministry’s Department for Coordination of Activities of State Enterprises, is taking part as an observer in the 48th Vienna session of the Scientific & Technical Sub-Committee of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space.
The session discusses issues of international cooperation in space research and technologies, the role of space technologies in tackling climate problems of the planet, the use of space systems for warning and emergency response, etc. The meeting will hear reports on the activities of the countries in outer space. The session is due to last until 18 February.
