Belarus and Russia to Unify Education Systems
OREANDA-NEWS. December 23, 2010. Belarus and Russia need unify their education systems as soon as possible, Vladimir Zdanovich, member of the Belarus-Russia Union State commission for social policy, science, culture and humanitarian issues, chairman of the permanent commission for education, culture, science, sci-tech progress of the House of Representatives of the national Assembly of Belarus, said during the Moscow-Minsk video-link.
“For all the years that we have been working towards a common educational space, it would seem that we have made all the necessary steps. However, we should still reconsider our agreements which became irrelevant so that young people could get real access to education of any complexity in any part of the Union State,” Vladimir Zdanovich believes. For example, he proposes to formalize the following wording “the sides provide equal rights to citizens to university admission in accordance with standardized rules of admission.”
On Wednesday, 22 December, the Council of the Republic of Belarus’ National Assembly adopted the Education Code, Vladimir Zdanovich informed. This document identifies the rights of citizens of Belarus and Russia to education from preschool to postgraduate one. The MP considers it necessary to unify the schedule of school final exams, the forms of entrance examinations to universities and colleges.
“This area unites Russians and Belarusians, and the work on forming a unified educational space will heavily depend on the level of relations between the states,” he believes. “Creating the single economic space, and Belarus’ accession to the Bologna process will contribute to further approximation of educational systems. And only then we will be able to say that our children have equal conditions for education at any level,” Vladimir Zdanovich concluded.
