Azerbaijan Creates Team to Respond Quickly to Computer Incidents
OREANDA-NEWS. December 08, 2010. In compliance with the CE Convention on Cybercrime Azerbaijan has created a team to respond to computer incidents - AZ-CERT.
The Institute of Information Technologies of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan reports that the team was formed within the project of creation of scientific computer network AzScienceNet.
The purpose of AZ-CERT is rapid response and collection of information on incidents relating to information security, research and analytical studies and cooperation in this field with relevant international organizations.
Currently, work is underway to expand the infrastructure of AzScienceNet, establish DATA-center, introduce services GRID, Cloud Computing and Eduroam (Education Roaming), and organize systems of video conferences and integration of network AzScienceNet into the global scientific network.
To ensure effective control and improvement of info security level, it was created a service of network monitoring & information security within the AzScienceNet project. The AzScienceNet network is protected by centralized anti-spam and antivirus systems.
The rate of users of AzScienceNet, to which more than 2,000 computers have been connected, reaches 10,000 today.
AzScienceNet has a communication channel with bandwidth of 71 Mbit/s leased from Azerbaijan’s Internet backbone company Delta Telecom.
Until 2012 within the project it is planned to create network, logistics base and internal corporate infrastructure of scientific institutions with access to Internet.
