OREANDA-NEWS. October 28, 2010. A delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) led by newly appointed Head of the Regional Office in Central Asia Mr. Ives Arnoldi is on a working visit in the Turkmen capital.

The members of the ICRC delegation were received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Institute of International Relations of the MFA, the National Red Crescent Society and the Turkmen National Institute for Democracy and Human Rights under the President of Turkmenistan. During the meetings the sides exchanged views on the prospects for expanding humanitarian contacts with this largest international organizing. Evaluating highly the effective measures taken in Turkmenistan in recent years to implement international humanitarian law, the guests reaffirmed that the ICRC intended to expand the constructive dialogue in this field.

During the visit to Ashgabat the guests participated in the celebrations in honour of the 19th anniversary of independence of Turkmenistan.
