Republic of Korea Hosts Days of Culture of Turkmenistan
OREANDA-NEWS. May 12, 2010. The Republic of Korea hosts the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan. This large-scale cultural action initiated by the leaders of two friendly states will contributes considerably to bringing two great cultures and nations closer together.
The fact of organizing this action vividly evidences a qualitatively new level of relationships between the friendly countries which was established due to the fruitful top-level talks and agreements signed by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Lee Myung-Bak. As is known, further development of Turkmen-Korean partnership including the humanitarian dialogue was a focus of the talks which were held during the state visit of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Korea in 2008.
The greater dynamics of Turkmen-Korean relations in modern conditions is based on economic interests as well as deep understanding of the role of spiritual values in the progress of nations. Therefore, we can find a common language and understanding of many issues despite geographical remoteness.
The opening of the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan was timed to the One Planet International Festival that brought together participants from 60 countries in Seoul. Thousands of forum participants have an opportunity to learn about art and culture of our country.
Under the green banner of the Motherland the envoys of our country together with parade participants took part in the ceremony of opening the One Planet International Festival took place on the central square of Seoul. The organizers and numerous participants of the art forum welcomed cordially the representatives of Turkmenistan.
The folk ensembles performed a big concert. Turkmen art is presented at the International Festival by the Lachyn folk group who is a frequent participant to international festivals and contests. Numerous spectators were amazed by the bright national rituals presented by the Turkmen artists. The melodies of the national instruments, colourful costumes, the movements of the ancient dance kusht depdi let the audience feel the spirit of age-old and eternally young Turkmenistan.
The people of the Korean capital, the participants of the art forum and numerous foreign guests of Seoul visited the Turkmenistan pavilion with an exposition presenting the rich historical and cultural heritage of the Turkmen people and Turkmenistan’s cultural achievements in the epoch of new Revival and great changes. The works of fine and applied art, national costumes, souvenirs, printing materials about Turkmenistan and dishes of the national cuisine aroused keen interest among visitors.
