OREANDA-NEWS. January 15, 2010. Reconstruction of the facades of buildings in Vladivostok, construction of the coastline and the city center will begin in April this year. The decision was made today at a meeting at the regional administration office for the renovation the city’s objects and preparation for the APEC Summit to be held in Vladivostok in 2012, the office press service said.

For this purpose, the officials say, some 2.5 billion rubles have been allocated to fund the "Development of Vladivostok as a center for international cooperation in the Asia-Pacific" project. The money will be spent on repair and reconstruction of buildings and structures of Vladivostok, located on the seacoast. The regional administration plans to renovate downtown buildings, to install lightning and landscape parks.

"The center of Vladivostok should be stylish," says Sergei Darkin, the regional governor. He warned he would be overseeing the city reconstruction and would approve personally the standard materials and colors, types of illumination to be used for renovation project.
