OREANDA-NEWS. December 29, 2009. The Strategic Rocket Forces launched an intercontinental ballistic missile RS-20V (Voyevoda) from a launch base area, Orenburg region.
The launch was designed as part of development work to test the performance of the missile RS-20V and extending and extending Voyevoda missile system service to 23 years.
Given missile inherent high combat effectiveness by minimizing the time of preparation for the start, increasing the life of the missile in flight to the damaging factors of nuclear explosions and to improve the accuracy of hitting warheads. Prelaunch operations, launch and flight of the missile were carried out strictly according to the program. The missile hit the targets in Russia's Far East Kamchatka Peninsula.
The test-launch once again demonstrated the correctness of a scheme and constructional and technical solutions, origins of the missile system equipped with a missile RS-20V, and its readiness to fulfill the military tasks during extended periods of operation. Prior to launching the missile was in operation for more than 21 years.
