Russian Delegation to Take Part Conference on Biological Weapons
OREANDA-NEWS. December 9, 2009. Russian delegation led by Chief of Directorate of the Radiological, Chemical and Biological Defence Colonel Konstantin Styazhkin will take part at the Conference on the Prohibition of the Development, Production and Stockpiling of Bacteriological (Biological) and Toxin Weapons and on their Destruction in Geneva (Switzerland) between 7 and 11 December.
In the general debate participants of the Conference will discuss issues concerning the avoidance of use of biotechnology advances in the military and terrorist purposes.A mechanism for checking States Parties is one of the main problems to discuss.
Apart from the representatives of 176 countries signed the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production and Stockpiling of Bacteriological (Biological) and Toxin Weapons and on their Destruction, at the annual review Conference will take part delegations of the non-aligned countries under the chairmanship of Cuba.
